Two Branch Offices Help Feed the Hungry

More than 100 real estate brokers, agents, employees and their colleagues including participants from the Highland Park and Apple Valley offices, packed 24,336 meals recently to distribute to local food shelves as part of a St. Paul Area Association of Realtors® community outreach event in partnership with Stillwater-based Meals From the Heart.

Meals From The Heart, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, brings people together to serve their neighbors through energized and fun meal-packing events that provide flavorful, fortified meals to local food shelves.

Coldwell Banker Burnet agents and partners like Emily Cauley from Guaranteed Rate Affinity, participated in three sessions of four-hour shifts at SPAAR to fill, weigh, seal and box food for local pantries. Patty Zuzek, sales manager in the Apple Valley office reported that the Apple Valley office won a competition between the two offices to package the most food in 30 minutes!

Said Patrick Ruble, manager associate of the Highland Park Branch and chair of the SPAAR Community Engagement Committee, “This is the first time we’ve participated in a Meals From The Heart event, and everyone enjoyed the effort so much that we already have plans to participate in a similar event in the spring.”

He continued, “We wanted to reach out in our local community where it’s not always recognized that there are people living with food insecurity. We have also been inspired by the potential to conduct another meal packing event that could contribute to recent hurricane and natural disaster victims in the United States and its territories.”

The event ended with an outdoor barbecue! Click on the video below to view this wonderful community engagement effort and the hard work of many SPAAR members.
